Don't Know Much About Space
Published in Hardcover by HarperCollins (August, 2001)
Average review score:

We're adults and we couldn't stop reading it!My husband, who is from Japan, reads only 4x4 magazines and Japanese comics, yet, he read this book from start to finish. The book is written for kids 8-12, but I found it very entertaining and well written.
This would be great for a kid who is interested in science (or even, not interested... it may spur their interest). For example, a couple of the topics are "True or False: Astronauts grow taller in space" and "Do Saturns Rings have Sheep?"
The illustrations are fun and there's some nice space photos. The book is well organized with a timeline in the back, as well as a glossary. It's an easy enjoyable read. The added bonus was that we looked really smart when we were watching Jeopardy with some friends and we both blew through all of the questions in the space category ;-)

An Out of this World Experience.....Do you know how old the universe is, why our galaxy is called the Milky Way, or why Venus is the smartest planet in the night sky? Do you know how far away outer space really is, if you could stand on Jupiter, or catch a shooting star? The answer to these and many other similar questions, can be found in Kenneth Davis' marvelous, fact filled, Don't Know Much About the Solar System. This is a book chock full of interesting information, fun facts and trivia and history about the universe, galaxy, solar system, planets, moons, asteroids, meteoroids, comets, stars, space exploration and astronomy. Mr Davis' text is written in an easy to read, question and answer, conversational style and complemented by Pedro Martin's humorous and engaging illustrations, that just add to the fun. Perfect for youngsters 8-12, Don't Know Much About the Solar System whets the appetite and leaves kids running to the library for more. So find out if there are aliens living on Mars, and enjoy!

Dr. York, Miss Winnie and the Typhoid Shot
Published in Audio Cassette by August House Audio (September, 1997)
Average review score:

A Tape for the Whole Family to EnjoyWe enjoy listening to tapes in the car while we travel with our children. This tape had the whole family in stitches we were laughing so hard. He is a wonderful storyteller. He tells the story from the child's perspective and brought back vivid memories of our own childhood experiences. The tape sparked a thoughtful discussion with our children of what things were like when we were kids. I am now looking for more titles by Donald Davis.
